The next-generation Ford Focus makes its worldwide debut at 2010 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. Both 4-door and 5-door body styles will be on show.
This latest generation Focus is built on Ford's new global C-car platform which first appears with the new C-MAX. The new platform will ultimately underpin up to 10 different vehicles globally, and deliver total sales of around 2 million units.
The New Focus will feature sporty and dynamic exterior styling, marking the next evolution of our acclaimed 'kinetic Design' language. The dramatic exterior is reinforced by a modern, high quality, cockpit-style interior.
The exciting new design is complemented by unmatched driving quality. Ford engineers plan to raise the dynamic benchmark once again, targeting outstanding steering precision, improved refinement and ride control.
The powertrain line-up for the new Focus will include state-of-the-art Ford EcoBoost™ turbocharged direct injection engines and a choice of advanced and improved Duratorq TDCi common-rail diesel engines, all of which offer significant fuel consumption improvement (of between 10 and 20 per cent) and reduced CO2 compared to today's car.
The New Focus range will go into production simultaneously in Europe and North America from late 2010 and the UK launch is planned during Q1, 2011.
Full details of the UK line-up and specification will be announced later in the year.
